Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. Zaykov is originally from Tolleson. When he was a child, he had a challenging dental experience that caused him to feel anxious. He became a dentist in part so that he could help other people avoid that kind of discomfort and fear. On top of that, he was interested in the hands-on nature of dentistry and how it would give him the chance to solve complex problems. He also enjoys being able to see the immediate results of his work in his patients’ smiles!

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

After graduating from La Sierra University in Riverside, CA, Dr. Zaykov pursued his dental education at the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, eventually earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He then went on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program at the Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.

Dr. Zaykov received important clinical experience during his time in the Air Force and eventually earned the credentials to perform intravenous conscious sedation. After completing his active duty service, he continued to expand his knowledge of dentistry. He has completed advanced training in implant dentistry, including a one-year program through the American Academy of Implant Dentistry at Roseman University in Utah.

Dr. Zaykov currently holds membership with the American Dental Association, the Arizona Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Dr. Zaykov has a wife who is a physical therapist, and together they have two dogs named Yuri and Boyka. His hobbies include snowboarding, mountain biking, and playing board games. Additionally, he likes creating escape room games, and he enjoys learning about stocks and personal finances.
