Dr. Katelyn McDowell
Dr. McDowell says that the best thing about dentistry is getting to connect with people and playing an active role in helping them achieve healthier, more attractive teeth. Nothing makes her happier than seeing the relief on someone’s face after she’s gotten them out of pain or the excitement following a smile makeover. She’s eager to welcome you into our practice, and you can start getting to know her below.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
From a young age, Dr. McDowell knew that she wanted a career where she could always be growing and improving. She loved the sciences and connecting with others, so healthcare was a natural choice. She was also drawn to the idea of a job where she could directly help patients every day, and by the time she was 16, she knew that dentistry would be the best fit.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. McDowell earned both her undergraduate and dental degrees from the University of Louisville. Following graduation, she attended an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency through NYU at St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix. Today, she is an active member of the American Dental Association, Arizona Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. McDowell currently lives in Tempe with her husband, and when she isn’t working, you’ll often find her hiking and trying to see as many national parks as possible. She also loves to find new restaurants and coffee shops in the area whenever she has the chance.
