Frequently Asked Dental Questions Goodyear
We’re Always Happy to Educate Our Patients
It’s no secret that dentistry can be confusing, especially if you are considering a new treatment for the first time. Of course, those who aren’t sure on how to best take care of their oral health are always welcome. Below, you’ll find a handful of the most common questions we hear from patients as well as our detailed answers for your convenience. If your question isn’t mentioned, we’ll be happy to help you when you call or visit.
How often should I visit for a checkup?
Most patients should visit the dentist at least once every six months for a routine checkup. This generally includes both an exam and cleaning to confirm that no plaque is left on your teeth and gums and make sure your at-home oral care is working as intended. Those with advanced gum disease will need to visit more often, generally every three to four months.
Can you restore my damaged teeth?
Not only can you restore damaged teeth, but you absolutely should. Chipped, cracked or otherwise injured teeth will not get better on their own. Instead, you’ll need either a dedicated tooth-colored filling or ceramic crown, depending on the severity of the damage. We’ll determine the best option for you when you arrive. We’re also happy to replace old silver fillings if needed.
What’s the best way to replace teeth?
Our dental office is happy to provide traditional bridges to replace one or more missing consecutive teeth. However, our dentists can also place dental implants if you’re looking for a more long-lasting and reliable solution for damaged teeth. While dental implants do require surgery, they are stronger and designed to make chewing your favorite foods feel natural. Our team will go over the differences with you directly so you can make an informed decision on your care.
I’m not happy with my smile’s appearance. Can you help?
Everyone deserves a beautiful smile they can feel confident showing off! Goodyear Family Dentistry provides a wide variety of cosmetic solutions, making it easy for us to develop a treatment plan that addresses your specific smile concerns. This includes porcelain veneers, Lumineers, metal-free restorations made from high-quality and natural-looking materials, and take-home whitening kits. We even use virtual smile design software that can show a preview of your new smile before treatment.
Can I visit for a dental emergency?
If you are experiencing dental discomfort of any kind or you’re not sure if what you’re dealing with is a dental emergency, please don’t be afraid to call. Putting off a dental emergency will only allow it to get worse and require even more treatment to resolve. We’ll even try to get you in the same day the emergency occurs.
Do you see children?
We’re happy to see children of all ages. Even if your child does not yet have any visible teeth, they should complete their first checkup once they reach the age of one.
